Boiler & Steam Services for Food Processing Facilities

Steam reliability, trap and condensate recovery, and code-compliant repair for Texas food and beverage manufacturers — scheduled around your production, not ours.

In Food Processing, Steam Isn't a Utility. It's a Process Input.

Food processing devotes 57% of its fossil fuel use to steam production — a larger share than chemicals or petroleum refining. That means steam problems don't show up first on the gas bill. They show up in cook times, sterilization cycles, CIP performance, and product consistency.

When pressure drifts or a header starts surging, QA sees it before maintenance does. And by the time it's a work order, it's already been a quality issue for a week.

We work on the systems that produce and deliver that steam: boilers, burners, feedwater and deaerators, distribution piping, traps, and condensate return.

There Is Almost Always Money in the Trap Population

Steam systems account for roughly one-third of all energy applied at U.S. industrial facilities. The Department of Energy estimates 10–15% energy and expenditure savings are available across industrial steam systems, and a Lawrence Berkeley analysis puts the economic potential at 18–20% of total boiler energy use.

The most common place that money is sitting is the trap population. In systems that haven't had maintenance in three to five years, up to 30% of steam traps may have failed. At facilities without a regular steam maintenance program, DOE data indicates an annual trap survey alone can save 5–15% of system fuel cost.

Most plants we walk into have never had a documented trap survey. Not because anyone was negligent — because traps fail silently and nobody owns them.

What a Steam Recovery Survey Gives You

  • Every trap located, tagged, and tested
  • Failure mode classified — blow-through, cold, leaking, or plugged
  • Estimated steam loss and annual fuel cost per failed trap
  • Repair-or-replace recommendation, prioritized by payback
  • Post-repair verification so you can prove the result

You get a report you can take to finance, not a verbal estimate.

We Schedule Around Your Production

A food plant can't take a boiler down because it's convenient for the contractor. We plan work around your run schedule, sanitation windows, and changeovers — and when something has to happen during production, we tell you the real constraint instead of discovering it on the day.

For scheduled outages we come in with a written sequence, parts staged, and the crew sized to finish inside the window. For emergencies, we're dispatched 24 hours a day and we'll give you an honest ETA on the phone.

Working in a Food Environment

We understand that a boiler room in a food plant is still a food plant. Our crews follow site GMP requirements, sanitation and hygiene protocols, allergen and foreign-material controls, and confined space and hot work permitting. We coordinate with your QA group before hot work begins, not after.

Where culinary or clean steam is involved, we work to your specification and documentation requirements for materials and procedures.

What We Do for Food & Beverage Plants

Steam Trap & Condensate Surveys

Full trap population survey with tagging, failure classification, quantified loss, and prioritized repair plan.

Condensate Return Repair

Return line repair, water hammer diagnosis, pump and receiver service, and recovery improvements that put hot condensate back in the deaerator.

Boiler Maintenance & Tune-Ups

Combustion analysis, burner tuning, safety device testing, feedwater and water chemistry review, and fireside cleaning.

Emergency Repair

24/7 response for boiler failures, tube leaks, burner lockouts, and steam leaks — with a written root-cause report afterward.

ASME Code Welding

Section IX certified welders for pressure-boundary repairs, header work, and piping modifications, with full documentation.

Deaerator & Feedwater Service

Deaerator inspection and repair, feedwater pump service, and level control troubleshooting.

Gas Train & Combustion

Gas piping, gas train service, pressure testing, and combustion tuning across the firing range.

Sterilizer & Retort Steam Support

Steam supply reliability and pressure stability for cook, retort, and sterilization equipment.

Problems We Get Called For

  • Steam pressure that won't hold during ramp-up or changeover
  • Water hammer in condensate returns
  • Recurring boiler trips nobody has been able to explain
  • Rising fuel cost with no change in production volume
  • Failed traps discovered during an unrelated repair
  • Wet steam affecting cook or sterilization performance
  • Carryover and foaming from water chemistry problems
  • Deaerator level and pressure instability
  • Boiler registration or inspection findings that need correction

Texas Food Manufacturing

Texas is a top-two state nationally for food manufacturing employment and ranks first in animal slaughtering and processing. Nearly 130,000 Texans work in food and beverage manufacturing — about 13% of the state's manufacturing jobs — and the sector has grown 14.9% over five years, more than double the national rate.

San Antonio carries a meaningful share of that, and the plants here run hard. We work with facilities across the metro and the I-35 corridor.

Start With the Numbers

If you don't know your current trap failure rate, you don't know what your steam system is costing you. A survey answers that in a few days, and the report is yours whether or not you hire us for the repairs.
